We are committed to ensuring that our models are fully compatible with each other as well as with models from popular wargames. This approach allows our customers to create unique and personalized armies by mixing and matching different components. We carefully design every aspect to ensure easy assembly and a perfect fit, regardless of which models are combined. This compatibility greatly enhances the customization options available to our users.
This fall, as part of our Stormpride Sisters campaign, we also revived our old project, Stormbringers 2. To ensure that the Stormbringers models are compatible with more modern designs, we’ve done a rescaling process. This effort aligns the Stormbringers models with current standards, allowing for seamless integration and customization alongside the latest releases.
Interesting Solutions and Challenges
One of the more intricate aspects of this project was adjusting the models with dynamic poses. These poses, while visually striking, presented unique challenges in terms of maintaining consistency across the range.
To tackle this, we spent considerable time measuring and classifying as many models as possible from other wargames. This challenge led us to develop a reference template bank to assist in the creation of new models and to evaluate their compatibility.
Here’s how our table looks. Unfortunately, we can't share a more detailed image because it's internal information and, to be honest, a bit of a big secret.
For Space Knights, we now have four armor types: light Recon armor for scouts and saboteurs, standard Prime armor for elite warriors, heavy Destroyer armor for frontline assault troops, and one more. Although we’ve used three of these armor types so far, the primary challenge has been establishing a system of size and consistency across different units.
The original models often have variations in bits and details, even when they are wearing identical armor. The reference templates helped mitigate these challenges by providing a baseline for comparison, allowing our team to make precise adjustments that retained the dynamic nature of the poses while ensuring compatibility with other models.

I agree with ericj8517. This is a valid question. As we were pitched time and time again that the scale of this project was already in line with “other ranges”. Please refer to this post: https://www.dakkadakka.store/post/unlocking-the-mysteries-of-army-compatibility-and-scale
It would only be fitting to offer this for free for previous backers. Or in the very least offer a discounted price for backers of the stormbringers campaign with stormpride sisters. You already say you will offer that for the order of repentance campaign backers. Seems only fair to offer it to those that backed stormbringers 2.0 as well…
Also would be nice to see you break down the hero and character models into separate parts like the rest of the range. (Which I…
Will these updates be free for previous buyers, or will we have to re-buy them?
