Unlike the Technocracy, Oasis Zephyros does not see aether as a resource to obsessively harvest. The substance has attained a holy status. Not only does it allow the riders to develop a telepathic bond with their mounts, further strengthened through neural interfaces, but it can reshape these people’s very being. Some voluntarily undergo a harrowing metamorphosis and remake themselves in the image of Zephyros’ animistic deities.
